Gentle Tooth Extraction
Tooth extraction in Beverly Hills
A tooth extraction removes a tooth that decay, infection, or injury has damaged beyond repair, or one that is crowding the others. In Beverly Hills, Dr. Hill treats it as the start of a plan, clearing the problem and mapping how to replace the tooth so your bite and your smile come back.
What sets an extraction with Dr. Hill apart is that removal is never the first move. She looks hard for a way to keep your natural tooth, and only when one truly has to go does she take it out herself, with sedation matched to your comfort and a replacement plan already in place. One clinician sees your case through from the first look to the finished result.
Is This For You
Is a tooth extraction right for you?
Likely The Right Step If
- A tooth is broken, cracked, or decayed beyond what a filling or crown can repair
- Infection or damage is putting the teeth around it at risk
- A tooth is too crowded or impacted to keep clean and healthy
Worth Discussing First
- A tooth a root canal or crown could still save
- Active gum disease or infection that needs treating first
- Wanting the missing tooth replaced, which is worth planning before removal
Wondering if removal is necessary? Even a broken tooth is assessed carefully, because Dr. Hill will look for a way to save the tooth first and tell you honestly at your consultation whether extraction is the right call.
Most simple extractions are done in a single visit, with healing over the days that follow.
The Difference
Thoughtful care from start to finish
-
We look to save the tooth first
Before any extraction, Dr. Hill looks hard for a way to keep your natural tooth, including a root canal when that can work. She recommends removal only when the tooth is truly beyond repair or is putting the teeth around it at risk.
-
Sedation for every comfort level
From a light breath of nitrous to IV conscious sedation that Dr. Hill is certified to administer herself, your comfort is matched to you so anxiety never stands between you and the care your mouth needs.
-
A plan for what comes next
An empty space changes the teeth beside it over time. Once the site heals, Dr. Hill walks you through replacing the tooth with a dental implant or a bridge, restoring how your smile looks and how your bite works.

Treatments related to tooth extraction
Tooth removal is one part of keeping your mouth healthy. Many patients come to Dr. Hill's general dentistry practice for wisdom teeth removal when third molars crowd or impact, reach her as an emergency dentist when a tooth breaks or aches suddenly, then plan a dental implant once an extraction site has healed. Our implants versus dentures comparison can help you choose how to replace the tooth.

The Clinician Who Removes It
Meet Dr. Kerri Hill, the dentist behind your tooth extraction
For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Kerri Hill has cared for Beverly Hills patients one at a time, and she carries an extraction from the first exam to the plan that replaces the tooth. She removes the tooth herself and stays with your case so one person answers for your comfort and your result. Meet Dr. Kerri Hill.
The Consultation
Every extraction starts with a look for a way to save the tooth
Patients tell us the same thing afterward: I was heard, and every decision was mine. Here is how the consultation unfolds.
We examine and explain
Dr. Hill examines the tooth and the bone around it, shows you what she sees, and tells you honestly whether the tooth can be saved or needs to come out.
We remove it comfortably
If removal is the right call, she numbs the area fully and offers sedation from nitrous to IV conscious sedation, then removes the tooth gently, whether it is a simple lift from the socket or a surgical extraction.
We plan what replaces it
Once you have healed, Dr. Hill reviews your options for replacing the tooth, from a dental implant to a bridge, so your smile and your bite are whole again.

Individual results vary.
The questions extraction patients ask us first
Will the extraction hurt?
Dr. Hill numbs the area fully before she begins and offers sedation, so your comfort is looked after through the whole procedure. Most patients are surprised by how manageable it feels.
Does my tooth really need to come out?
Not until every option to save it has been considered. Dr. Hill recommends extraction only when a tooth is beyond repair or is threatening the teeth around it, and when it can be saved a root canal or other treatment always comes first.
What is the difference between a simple and a surgical extraction?
A simple extraction lifts a tooth that is fully visible from its socket with gentle instruments. A surgical extraction is used when a tooth is impacted, broken at the gum line, or not yet erupted, and involves a small incision to reach it. Dr. Hill explains which one your tooth needs before anything begins.
Will I need someone to drive me home?
That depends on your sedation. After local anesthetic alone you can usually drive yourself, and after IV conscious sedation or general anesthesia you will want someone to take you home. A friend or family member is welcome either way.
How is the tooth replaced afterward?
Once the site has healed, Dr. Hill can replace a missing tooth with a dental implant or a bridge, restoring how your smile looks and how you chew. She reviews the options with you and plans the timing around your healing.
Do you take my insurance, and what will it cost?
Dr. Kerri Hill runs a boutique, cash-pay practice and is not in-network, which is what makes one patient at a time and her full attention possible. The cost of an extraction and its replacement is explained in full during your consultation, and financing through CareCredit, Cherry, PatientFi, and Alphaeon can make the plan comfortable.
